Why Life Domain?

Choosing an Elf for your Life Domain Cleric creates an incredibly resilient support character. As a Life Cleric, your main job is to keep your allies standing using powerful healing magic. Your core subclass feature, Disciple of Life, makes every healing spell you cast significantly more effective. However, a healer cannot help the party if they are asleep or magically paralyzed, which is where your Elven heritage shines.

Thanks to your Fey Ancestry trait, you have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic cannot put you to sleep. This innate defense ensures you stay conscious and in control of your actions when your allies need your healing most. Additionally, your high Wisdom score naturally boosts your Keen Senses, making you excellent at spotting hidden dangers before they can ambush your team.

During rests, your Trance trait allows you to finish a long rest in just four hours. This means you can spend the remaining time keeping watch for the party, ensuring everyone else recovers their strength safely while you remain vigilant and ready to cast your next life-saving spell.

Life Domain Features

Disciple of Life

Level 3

When you cast a spell with a spell slot that restores Hit Points to a creature, add your Wisdom modifier to the amount of Hit Points restored.

Life Domain Spells

Level 3

Your connection to this divine domain ensures that you always have certain spells prepared.

Preserve Life

Level 3

As an action, you present your Holy Symbol and draw on divine magic to mend wounds. You can restore a number of Hit Points equal to five times your Cleric level. You can distribute these Hit Points among any number of creatures you can see within 30 feet of you. A creature can't regain Hit Points from this feature if it has 0 Hit Points.

Blessed Healer

Level 6

The healing spells you cast on others heal you as well. When you cast a spell with a spell slot that restores Hit Points to a creature other than you, you regain Hit Points equal to 2 + the spell's level.

Supreme Healing

Level 17

When you would roll one or more dice to restore Hit Points to a creature with a spell, you instead use the highest number possible for each die. For example, instead of restoring 2d6 Hit Points to a creature, you restore 12.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Life Domain a good subclass for Elf Cleric?
Yes, the Elf is an excellent fit for a Life Domain Cleric. The high Wisdom stat directly powers your spellcasting and healing output. Meanwhile, Elven traits like Fey Ancestry protect you from crowd-control effects that would otherwise prevent you from healing, ensuring you can always bail your allies out of trouble when a fight gets dangerous.
What makes Life Domain different from other Cleric subclasses?
While other Cleric subclasses focus on damage or utility, the Life Domain specializes purely in raw healing and survivability. Features like Preserve Life allow you to restore massive amounts of hit points to multiple injured allies at once without spending spell slots, making you the gold standard for party support.
