Why Path of the Berserker?

As a Path of the Berserker Barbarian, your primary job is to deal massive damage as a frontline striker. Choosing the Human species gives you an excellent head start thanks to the Versatile trait, which grants you a free Origin feat at level 1. You can use this to grab a feat like Great Weapon Master or Tough to immediately enhance your offensive power or survivability, perfectly setting up your aggressive playstyle before you even choose your subclass.

Once you reach level 3, you unlock the Frenzy feature, allowing you to channel absolute fury into devastating extra attacks. While this offensive power is immense, being on the front lines puts you in constant danger. This is where the Human Resourceful trait shines, giving you free Heroic Inspiration after every long rest. You can use this inspiration to reroll a crucial saving throw or a missed attack during a Frenzy, ensuring your most important turns are never wasted.

As you level up, features like Mindless Rage protect you from mental manipulation, making you a pure physical juggernaut. Combining your high Strength (15) and Constitution (14) with the extra utility from the Human Skillful trait ensures you will be a terrifying force in combat and a capable adventurer outside of it.

Path of the Berserker Features

Frenzy

Level 3

If you use the Reckless Attack while your Rage is active, you deal extra damage to the first target you hit on your turn with a Strength-based attack. To determine the extra damage, roll a number of d6s equal to your Rage Damage bonus and add them together. The damage is the same type as the weapon or Unarmed Strike used for the attack.

Mindless Rage

Level 6

You have immunity to the Charmed and Frightened conditions while your Rage is active. If you are Charmed or Frightened when you enter your Rage, the condition ends.

Retaliation

Level 10

When you take damage from a creature within 5 feet of you, you can use your Reaction to make a Melee attack with a weapon or an Unarmed Strike against that creature.

Intimidating Presence

Level 14

As a Bonus Action, you can instill fear in others with your menacing presence and primal power. Creatures of your choice within 30 feet of you must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become Frightened of you until the end of your next turn.
