Why Path of the Zealot?

The Path of the Zealot Barbarian transforms you into a divinely-inspired striker, focusing on dealing massive damage while remaining incredibly difficult to put down. As an Orc, your natural physical traits synergize perfectly with this holy fury. When you enter a Rage, you can channel divine power into your weapon strikes. Your Divine Fury feature allows you to deal extra radiant or necrotic damage on your first hit each turn, making you a nightmare for your enemies on the frontline.

While you are busy dishing out divine punishment, your Orcish heritage keeps you moving and fighting. The Adrenaline Rush trait lets you dash as a bonus action and gain temporary hit points, ensuring you can quickly close the distance to high-value targets without losing momentum. Furthermore, if an enemy does manage to wear down your healthy pool of hit points, Relentless Endurance lets you shrug off a fatal blow once per long rest, leaving you standing at 1 hit point to keep the fury going.

This combination creates a relentless combatant. When you eventually unlock higher-level features like Zealous Focus to reroll failed saving throws, you become an unstoppable juggernaut. With your high Strength (STR 15) and solid Constitution (CON 14), you are built to charge in, strike hard, and survive the impossible.

Path of the Zealot Features

If you fail a saving throw while your Rage is active, you can reroll it by using your Reaction, and you must use the new roll. You can use this feature once per turn.

Zealous Presence

Level 10

As a Bonus Action, you let out a battle cry infused with divine energy. Up to ten other creatures of your choice within 60 feet of you that can hear you gain Advantage on attack rolls and saving throws until the start of your next turn.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Path of the Zealot a good subclass for Orc Barbarian?
Yes, it is an outstanding combination. The Orc's Relentless Endurance and the Zealot's Warrior of the Gods feature mean you are incredibly cheap to resurrect and extremely hard to kill in the first place. This allows you to play highly aggressively, taking massive risks to deal heavy damage as a primary striker without worrying about the typical consequences of falling in battle.
What makes Path of the Zealot different from other Barbarian subclasses?
The Path of the Zealot specializes in divine offensive power and cheap resurrection. Unlike other Barbarians who focus purely on defense, the Zealot excels at dealing extra holy damage via Divine Fury and can be brought back to life without any costly spell components. Later, features like Rage of the Gods ensure you can fight through almost any obstacle.
