Why Wild Magic Sorcery?

Playing a Halfling Wild Magic Sorcerer turns the battlefield into your personal playground of probability. As a spellcaster focused on controlling the battlefield, your job is to dictate the flow of combat. Normally, the chaotic nature of the Wild Magic Surge feature can be a double-edged sword, occasionally triggering unexpected magical effects. However, the Halfling's signature Luck trait acts as a fantastic buffer, letting you reroll disastrous natural 1s on your attacks, ability checks, and saving throws to keep you in command.

Additionally, your Tides of Chaos feature allows you to gain advantage on a roll at will, inviting a wild surge later in exchange for immediate success. Combined with the Brave racial trait, which protects you from being frightened, you become an incredibly resilient controller. Even when magic goes sideways, Halfling Nimbleness lets you weave through larger enemies to find safety, turning chaotic mishaps into tactical opportunities.

Wild Magic Sorcery Features

Wild Magic Surge

Level 3

Once per turn, after you cast a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher, the DM can have you roll a d20. If you roll a 1, roll on the Wild Magic Surge table to create a random magical effect.

Tides of Chaos

Level 3

You can gain advantage on one attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. Once you do so, you can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest. Any time before you regain the use of this feature, the DM can have you roll on the Wild Magic Surge table immediately after you cast a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher. You then regain the use of this feature.

Bend Luck

Level 6

When another creature you can see makes an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, you can use your reaction and spend 2 sorcery points to roll 1d4 and apply the number rolled as a bonus or penalty (your choice) to the creature's roll. You can do so after the creature rolls but before any effects occur.

Controlled Chaos

Level 14

Whenever you roll on the Wild Magic Surge table, you can roll twice and use either result.

Tamed Surge

Level 18

You gain a measure of control over the surges of your wild magic. Whenever you roll on the Wild Magic Surge table, you can roll twice and choose which result to use. If you roll the same number on both dice, you can instead choose any effect on the table.
