Why Draconic Sorcery?

Choosing a Goliath for your Draconic Sorcerer blends the colossal might of giants with the fiery magic of dragons. As a blaster, your goal is to deal massive area-of-effect damage, but Sorcerers are traditionally fragile. This is where your Goliath heritage shines. By using your Giant Ancestry trait, you can shrug off incoming damage, keeping you on your feet when enemies try to shut down your spellcasting.

This physical resilience is boosted even further by your subclass. At level 3, Draconic Resilience increases your maximum hit points and gives you a permanent armor boost without needing to wear physical armor. Combined with a solid Constitution score of 14, you will be much tougher than the average spellcaster, allowing you to take risks other mages wouldn't dare.

Later, as you unlock Elemental Affinity at level 6, your damage sky-rockets when using spells that match your chosen element. If things get too close for comfort, you can activate your Large Form to control the battlefield, or simply take to the skies at higher levels with your Dragon Wings to rain down destruction from above.

Draconic Resilience

Level 3

Your inner draconic magic manifests as physical traits. Your hit point maximum increases by 1, and it increases by 1 again whenever you gain a level in this class. Additionally, when you aren't wearing armor, your AC equals 13 + your Dexterity modifier.

Draconic Spells

Level 3

You learn additional spells based on your draconic ancestry that don't count against the number of spells you know. These spells reflect the elemental nature of your dragon ancestor and enhance your connection to draconic magic.

Elemental Affinity

Level 6

When you cast a spell that deals damage of the type associated with your draconic ancestry, you can add your Charisma modifier to one damage roll of that spell. You can also spend 1 sorcery point to gain resistance to that damage type for 1 hour.

Dragon Wings

Level 14

You gain the ability to sprout a pair of dragon wings from your back, gaining a flying speed equal to your current walking speed. You can create these wings as a bonus action on your turn. They last until you dismiss them as a bonus action. You can't manifest your wings while wearing armor unless the armor is made to accommodate them.

Dragon Companion

Level 18

You can spend 5 sorcery points as an action to summon a draconic spirit that serves you loyally. The spirit takes the form of a dragon matching your draconic ancestry and fights alongside you. It obeys your commands, acts on your initiative, and remains for 1 hour or until reduced to 0 hit points.
