Why Diviner?
As an Elf Diviner, you don't just react to the world—you rewrite its destiny. Your primary job as a Controller is to dictate the flow of battle, shutting down enemies and boosting your allies. This build shines because of your subclass's signature feature, Portent, which lets you roll two twenty-sided dice at the start of the day and swap those results out for any roll later on. Whether you force a deadly boss to fail their saving throw against your spells, or guarantee a critical hit for your party's Rogue, you hold the threads of fate.
Your Elven heritage perfectly complements this prophetic playstyle. Thanks to Fey Ancestry, you gain advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep. This vital defense ensures you won't lose concentration on your reality-bending spells. Additionally, the Trance trait allows you to complete a full rest in just four hours. While your companions sleep, you have ample time to prepare your mind, study your spellbook, and peer into the future before the next day's journey begins.
Diviner Features
Divination Savant
Level 3The gold and time you spend to copy divination spells into your spellbook is halved.
Portent
Level 3When you finish a long rest, roll two d20s and record the numbers. You can replace any attack roll, saving throw, or ability check made by you or a creature that you can see with one of these foretelling rolls. You must choose to do so before the roll. Each foretelling roll can be used only once. You gain a new set of rolls when you finish a long rest.
Expert Divination
Level 6When you cast a divination spell of 2nd level or higher using a spell slot, you regain one expended spell slot. The slot you regain must be of a level lower than the spell you cast and can't be higher than 5th level.
The Third Eye
Level 10As an action, you can increase your powers of perception. Choose one of: Darkvision (60 ft), Ethereal Sight (see into the Ethereal Plane within 60 ft), Greater Comprehension (read any language), or See Invisibility (see invisible creatures and objects within 10 ft). The effect lasts until you use this feature again or finish a short or long rest.
Greater Portent
Level 14You roll three d20s for your Portent feature instead of two.

Pro Tips
Save low Portent rolls to force powerful enemies to fail their saving throws against your control spells like Hold Person.
Use high Portent rolls to guarantee a crucial attack for your physical damage-dealers or to pass your own key saving throws.
Leverage your Elven Trance to stay on guard during rests, using your high passive Perception to spot hidden dangers.
At level 6, use Expert Divination to cast information-gathering spells cheaply, keeping your party ahead without draining your main spell slots.
